Tortorella is a Borderline Psychotic! he was dropping F bombs left & right on the bench when the Pens scored the 1st goal ! the Pens were up 1-0 VERY early in the game & Tortorella is going going Apeshit Postal on the Bench

Now I thought it was an incredibly stupid play by a incredibly stupid Player, That is the reason Orpik fell to the Pens in his draft year Scouts thought his hockey sense was"Lacking” you are up by 3 already killing a PP you do not do that.

Now with that being said Mike Rupp had the same kind of hit on Jordan Staal & the Pens said NOTHING about that hit

I’m sorry, Orpik’s knee isn’t out until Stepan makes his move. That’s the typical defenseman play where they go at the guy straight on and then reach out with any part of their body to make contact to impede the player, more times than not, the bigger ones use their leg. That’s two teams in a week and a broadcaster calling out the Penguins. Hmm, maybe there’s some truth to the way the Penguins act. I do think it’s suspendable but this close to the playoffs, who knows.

Couple of thoughts:

a) Why do Penguins fans bring up Kronwall and Bertuzzi anytime their players are linked to dirty hits?

b) Why do Penguins fans think Red Wings fans are always wearing “red glasses” even if we were just outraged with Quincey’s suspension as anyone else?

And why the hell can’t people focus on the subject? The Rangers head coach talked about the Penguins. So discuss the Rangers and the Penguins, geez.

@cotsonika: A lot to like about Torts. But am I the only one (outside of Pittsburgh) who thought he sounded arrogant and whiny talking about Pens?

also Regis McGuire said Tortellini was way out of line

Posted by Evilpens on 04/06/12 at 12:30 PM ET

@Guilherme: Some Pens fans chime in about Kronwall and Bertuzzi because some Wings fans come in here to criticize the Pens at every chance available while having a holier-than-thou attitude about their own team.

More focused on which team? Apparently you don’t read the two Wings’ blogs on here. Excuse us for having the mental capacity to multi-task.  smile

Again, I could be wrong…but to me, Orpik had that wide stance when he came into the picture, stick out, defending against the pass.  There’s no question he’s coming in for a hit, but his stance never really changes, even when he goes to throw the shoulder into #21, that wide-base is still there.  Stepan dodges the check/Orpik whiffs with the shoulder, their legs connect first, and that’s where the trouble happens.

You know when you are hanging a knee - there is a way to ensure that contact and just straight-line ahead as though you didn’t mean it.  This is not a weird or blind collision.  I have no comment on Orpik’s history.  But that was intentional.

Orpik is not a dirty player either.  Physical and stupid, yes….

Now that’s a pretty fine line you’ve drawn there.

That’s funny coming from you. This is the first time I’ve seen a post from you that wasn’t on a Red Wings topic. You’re the biggest troll Kukla’s has.

Only Pittsburgh fans have ever defended that filthy dirty rat-ass son of an illegitimate dog.  Oprik runs around the rink looking for opportunities to injure opponents.  He is as low as any player in the league including Dan Carcillo.  That is saying something.  Now the whiney-heinies in Pittsburgh are rallying to his defense.  I believe the other players in the league need to do something about him and that is tear his left leg off.  No he has not been suspended near enough over the years, but that is because Buttman, the evil garden gnome, is in bed with Pittsburgh and Boston management.  Notice how both of those teams get away with dirty play.

Now someone tell me Orpik didn’t do that intentionally.

He didn’t do THAT intentionally.

He intended to catch him squarely in the knee to maximize the injury but Stepan moved at the last second and Orpik reflexively stuck out his leg to get him at least a little bit. His instincts took over.

Well Pens fans sorry that some people around the league can no longer keep their mouths shut.  Its a case where teams have been putting up with this crap for too long.
What’s really sad is since Crosby has been out of the lineup lately,  I’ve been seeing the Pens as a hard-nose team that would be tough to play against.  I was even starting to ( I cringe to admit this) respect their gritty style and determined nature.
But then a funny think happened a few weeks ago….Crosby came back.    And all of a sudden that toughness took on a different feel…..It started to seem more punk-like and cheap.  There was more and more extra curricular stuff turning nasty.
There’s a saying that a team’s attitude will mirror that of their captain.    Now I don’t know if its my hate of the overrated little brat, or the fact that his whining and spoiled little attitude is rubbing off on his teammates.  His teammates will defend him….Its their job.    But a captain should NEVER run his mouth at an opposing teams coach.  Him standing behind a line of 4 of his teammates while yelling at a coach is bs.  Especially while everything was trying to be brought back under control, he fueled that fire as well.
He is immature and classless and the league would be better off not trying to force him down our throats as the league’s posterboy.      Pittsburgh would be better off stripping of his “C” , setting him down and tell him to shut his mouth and just play hockey.    The way he’s going teams are gonna get him….people are getting tired of his antics, and frustration will boil over eventually.    He said himself that when he returned he wasn’t going to get involved with this kinda stuff,  that lasted long eh?
Just be glad he plays in a era with the current open ruleset with more freedom.    When Gretzky and Lemieux were breaking records there was so much clutching and grabbing scoring was very tough.    Under those conditions Crosby wouldn’t have lasted five years.    If he just went out and played hard and lead by example he would get a hell of lot more respect.    Let all that other crap take care of itself.      But then again, maybe he just can’t help himself…...

The difference between Wings fans and Pens fans? Knowledge of the game and class. Contrast the reaction to this obviously dirty play by a player with a history of dirty hits, to the reaction of Wings fans to Quincey’srecent dirty play and suspension:

Learn how to Kronwall someone Quincey, you *#$%@&.

Looks like we’ll see you in Round One Quincey.  Phoning Brendan Shanahan.

Ya know what, fuch Quincey.  That’s some cheap shit that gets pulled in a Ducks uniform, or a Flames uniform, but not a Wings uniform.  Ridiculous.

And reaction to the suspension: http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/hockey/comments/quincey_suspended_one_game/

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!? A pure as the wind driven snow Wing got suspended ?
Posted by Evilpens on 04/02/12 at 05:47 PM ET
Actually, I think those guys, and most Wings fans, thought he should have gotten more games.  So yeah, think before you post.

I was expecting/thinking/hoping for 3 games. Quincey was rather stupid here.

Should have been two or three.

Awful. Should’ve been at least the three last games of the season.

Actually, there were a couple of people that were confused or thought the suspension odd, but they did not specify if they thought the suspensions was light or harsh.

Stay classy Pens fans.

Was driving back to PA when the game was on, so I didn’t get to see the additional angles until right now.

Those other angles do look like he stuck his leg out.  So, I stand corrected.
