Brendan Shanahan explains the suspension. An illegal hit, launching himself while targeting the head.

I’ll second that.
This is what I dont’ get, there are two types of plays that Shanny sees. Ones where a player is wreckless and ones with intent to injure (any kind of deliberate shot to the head, slew foot, knee to knee)
Why not throw the book at the intent to injure infractions and save the 2 gamers for the ones who weren’t malicious, just not clean.

In addition to thinking this suspension is light, I don’t understand the fact that he “suffered no apparent injury.”
How many times have we seen players take hits to the head and not feel effects until the next day or two? The intent to injure was there - whether or not that was the result shouldn’t matter.
Shanny’s gotten weak.

Couldn’t agree more.
Torres is a repeat offender and should have gotten 5 games just based on that.
But overall, I’m sick and tired of the results of the illegal hit weighing so heavily on the length of suspension.
Torres won’t learn anything from this. Not until he seriously injures someone and then gets 17 games.
Shanny = Colin Campbell 2.0.
