Bobby Orr was my first hockey hero. I wore #4 in hockey because of him. But I have to say, his “#1” play is not deserving of its place.
He took the shot, then was tripped. Legend and lore makes it seem like he shot it while in the air, which he clearly did not. It was a great play by an amazing offensive defenseman; but its place in hockey history is overstated.
On another note, Yzerman’s OT winner still gives me chills to this day. I remember watching that game with a friend and my brother. We were so damn nervous all OT. When Yzerman scored we went absolutely berserk; jumping around the living room and screaming. Great memories.

Valtteri Filppula’s goal, Game 2 of the 2008 SCF was a helluva lot better than Orr’s.
