Wow, epic collapse by the Pens. It was 3-0 when I stopped checking in on it.

Barf.
Luckily it’s one game, but that’s a tough one to lose.

Yep, that should have been the easiest one to win, particularly after taking advantage of a shaky Bryzgalov in the 1st. Can’t complain about the offsides goal by Briere—the human element of officiating will win you some and lose you some. Our PoS powerplay performance and half-assed third period lost us the game. Hopefully they’ll play the full 60 minutes the rest of the series, and set Kunitz/Staal/Cooke/etc loose in front of the net, while pucks go here. We get it, the Penguins are talented to make amazing perimeter passes—put it to the net!

Bryz wasn’t shaky. If he hadn’t made a few big, hard saves in the first, it would’ve been 5 or 6-0. Once the Flyers actually started playing their more aggressive style, that’s when the Pens shelled, not because they let off the gas, but because they couldn’t handle the Flyers’ pressure and forecheck. I said it when the series became definite, the Pittsburgh D and defensive philosophy doesn’t match up with the way the Flyers play. Pittsburgh can’t handle cycling teams, their D-men and forwards don’t rotate well or stay flat footed/stationary. Case in point, look at Briere’s 2nd goal. Crosby drifts out in front of his goalie instead of staying with his man along the boards. There was no one for the Flyers anywhere in the center of the ice, everyone was along the boards. I know Pens fans rag on Byslma and his lack of adjustments and I never really saw it but thinking back to the other games this season and last night, I’m beginning to understand what they see.
