Rightfully so, Alex Ovechkin received 2 for charging for this hit on Dan Girardi.
But the web is starting to ask, does he deserve more punishment?
Anyone who thinks he does has other motives.

What video are you watching? I have played this over and over and every time Ovechkin’s arm makes direct contact with Girardi’s head while Ovechkin’s feet are both off the ice. It could not be more clear. When Girardi hits the ice he grabs his head, not his shoulder.

A one-game suspension in the playoffs is equal to more than 10 games in the regular season.
Yes. But a suspension worthy hit is still a suspension worthy hit…it doesn’t matter if it’s the playoffs, preseason, or game 53 of the regular season.
The fact that Ovechkin is a repeat offender SHOULD carry some weight in the decision.
We know it won’t though.
I say $2500 and see you next game AO.

Initial contact is with the shoulder, he left his feet, but that’s only a charge, He’ll get the Weber treatment….

.when will he ever stop leaving his feet. He needs to suffer a substantial suspension sometime for him to stop. It wont happen in the playoffs

Looks like a foot on the ice and a hit to the shoulder to me…

Exactly. I will admit I am a Caps fan so I do have other motives, but I think the 2 is quite appropriate. A one-game suspension in the playoffs is equal to more than 10 games in the regular season.
