Nick, you left your feet that’s why you got the penalty.

Foligno has been running around for a month now…  He’s an above average dirty player I would say…  No doubt the right call was made there, no doubt at all.

42.1 Charging - A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner.
Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A “charge” may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice.

So now the NHL thinks stopping in front of a player and bracing yourself is worthy of a game misconduct?  He didn’t skate into, jump into, or charge in any manner.  He barely even lowered a shoulder.  I don’t even like Ottawa, but this is ridiculous.

He left his feet because Ellerby was on his way down, hitting Foligno low and causing him to raise off his skates.

Foligno is on the edge of some serious problems, Ottawa needs to get him under control or he will be sitting out soon. Trying to kill someone coming around the net is not hockey.

First, I have to say that I’m not at all a fan of the Ottawa Senators, but I am a big time hockey nut and have played it all my life.

This was not a penalty.

If Ellerby stayed on his skates, we’d all be talking about a nasty collision. But, because he was on his way down, it looked nasty.

It also appears Foligno saw that collision coming at the last second and turned sideways in an attept to lay up. He only comes up off his feet upon impact.

IF it was an intentional charge, he would never have made the turn rather he’d have lowered his shoulder and attempted to drive it through Ellerby’s midsection.

Watching the video, I just don’t see it that way.
