The officiating has been worse than expected.  I think I was expecting lousy, biased, idiotic calls.  I expected to see phantom slashes penalized and real ones let go.  I expected T. Holmstrom to be called for goalie interference when he was on the bench.  I did not expect to see all the officials lose control of their games, yet that is what is happening.

If the league really wants to stop this garbage, they should suspend all the miscreants for at least the remainder of the playoffs.  They should suspend Bylsma (and I know him slightly as he is from my parents old home town) for the balance of the playoffs for not controlling his players.  They should suspend Crosby for 5 games for not being a responsible captain.  Piling on one team is the only way this will be stopped.  Giving a team a two minute one man advantage does not do it when things are this far out of control.

They also need to suspend most of the officials who have been involved in calling these fiascos.  They can go to the nearest peewee league and find more competent officials.

I wish The Evil Garden Gnome had not run off the handful of good officials they used to have.

Why did Crosby get a fighting maj.? All of this guys fight end in the refs saving his sorry ass, even before anyone is on the ground. That’s not a fight, that’s a joke of Gary Ass saving his little babyboy. Pahtetic NHL, pathetic. This Playoffs promised to be really good and NHL inc. turned it into a complete joke. Congratulations for hiring the most inept refs. Wether they are instructed or unable to do their job. Either way, they suck.

For all the people going on about how Cindy showed stones and fought Giroux, well you can’t call that much of a fight.

He basically holds onto him until the ref holds Giroux down on the ice, then that’s when he starts really wailing on him.

You really can’t call it a fight when someone is holding your opponent down for you.

As for the refs calling everything Philly’s way.  I won’t say Philly was blameless but the Pens started most of the crap that went down.

Cindy, slashing at Bryzgalov, Cindy pushing a glove away.  The first well you know you don’t do that to a goalie after the whistle or someone is going to come looking for you.

The second, well that’s just childish.  Did anyone catch his post game interview when asked about that?  He couldn’t have sounded more like a petulant child.  I love how when he tries to turn it around on the reporter by asking what he should have done and getting sarcastic enough to suggest that he what, should he have picked it up and handed it to him.  The reported calmly says, um skate away?

Yeah, the Pens lost their head and their Captain (I use the term loosely, because I still don’t think he’s mature enough for the C) was at the heart of quite a few of the incidents that went down.

Maybe if their Captain was acting like a grown up, the rest of the team wouldn’t have degenerated into fighting like kids in the playground.

As a Pens fan, I’m pretty annoyed that Bylsma hasn’t made any adjustments at all.  It was quite evident early on in the series that Philly’s lateral play on the rush and PP is deadly.  At some point you have do something about it if you can’t stop it.  Go to a collapsing D of some sort like Montreal did against us in the playoffs a few years ago.  We couldn’t penetrate it.  Or, although I hate it, go old school with the New Jersey Devils trap.  Do something, anything to make Philly’s life on the offensive end more difficult.

This is awesome, I love this type of playoff hockey. No wonder the ratings are going through the roof.
