Video- Is This A Head Hit?

Brian Gionta of the Canadiens received two minutes for interference on the goaltender.

James Reimer did finish the period but was replaced by Jonas Gustavsson at the start of the second.

It looked like Gionta saw where Reimer was and just went through him. Seems to watch Reimer until he just makes contact. Shanny should take a look at this.

I get the feeling that hurt more because of the helmet being wrenched off rather than an actual impact. Like maybe Gionta’s jersey caught on the snaps of the mask as much as anything.

Good chance to set a precedent. It was clearly a hit to the head.

Gionta also “fell” onto Fleury the other night.  Errey started babbling about how Gionta always makes contact with the goalie.  The Fleury hit seemed pretty minor but I think Gionta made it pretty obvious with Reimer.
