Video- Did Dustin Brown Embellish This Slash From Mike Smith?

Smith received 2 for slashing, Brown 2 for diving.

Also, this guy, Fred Murtz, gets many of these YouTube vids up very quickly.  The guy continues to kick-out videos at a record pace.

so I feel like I’ve said this more than usual this playoff… but seriously, the 2 for Brown was one of the worst calls ever. That was one of the more brutal goalie slashes I’ve seen this year. How on earth could that be perceived as embellishment? Horrific call. Kind of shocking Brown didn’t freak out… probably was in too much pain

Bwahahaha @ Brown

Even if he wasn’t completely embellishing, the karma police finally caught him. He is one the most egregious divers in the league and his antics haven’t subsided in this post season. Which is a shame considering how great he’s played. He’s still a douche, though.

I like Smith a lot. But that was a brutal slash. I’m surprised Brown could even make it to the penalty box after the bogus call. Just one more blown call by Lil’ Gary’s idiot refs.

...the karma police finally caught him..

Um, you’re talking about Doan, right? smile

Open your eyes, Brown has been the best player in the playoffs and that was a brutal slash.

How the hell was that a dive? The skating bit to the box might’ve been a little Kesler’ed…but the fall after the slash? Holy Billy Smith…

Yeah, he has been great…as I noted in my initial post. Also, nowhere did I say that Smith’s slash wasn’t a penalty.

My point is that Brown is a notorious diver and that fact may well have played into the decision on the official’s part to sit him for 2 minutes. When you flop all over the place game after game it slightly weakens your credibility, yes?

As for the slash itself, I’ve seen a hell of a lot worse…but I’m sure it hurt. Happy now?

Brown couldn’t have seen it coming….if anything, most players would turn around and go after Smith. The fact that he didn’t might indicate the amount of paint he was in. Embellished? No way…was already and obvious penalty (look at the ref’s arm shoot right up)

Easy guys

Godblender is right.

He is one of the worst divers, and he has dfove the whole playoffs.  He dove once before this one.

As for the slash, it looks a bit worse.  Looked like he let up on the stick at the end.

Brown was fine. Which adds credence to the diving call being the right one.

Ref was right there.

Perhaps it was a build up call.

But Brown dives.  He got a call that was a little harsh…so what?  He still dives a lot.

Looked like a build up of his karma to me ( I would also surmise that we don’t know whats said on the ice, and the refs have probably warned him about it too…)

So unless Brown leaves the game on a stretcher it was a dive?

Think about what you wrote there while you take a nice stroll along Vancouver’s designated Stanley Cup parade route and then maybe you’ll realize how stupid your statement was.

When Brown dives (and he does do that), THEN call him for it.  As it stands, this was a horrid call.

And shut up with the karma bullshit. Why would a mysterious universal force conspire to make the refs mess up just to get at Dustin Brown?  Just call it what it is, you idiots. This is Dustin Brown’s growing reputation as a diver catching up to him.

Even if it was a dive, it doesn’t change the fact that the slash was a full on chop with the biggest piece of lumber on the ice. I’m sure that hurt pretty bad.

Also, it is pretty clear the two people bashing Brown are bitter about the Kings having knocked their teams out (or at least down), especially since one of them has a user name of “vancitydan.”

The refs have completely lost their minds. How in the holy hell do you call a diving penalty on that?As for the “karma”/“reputation” as a diver catching up to him, that is pure BS.Whether or not a guy is known to take dives doesnt give the refs an excuse to make bad calls on a guy.I saw the same BS calls last year against Steve Downie.Downie gut run head first into the boards and was called for diving.Lets face it the refs are getting worse with each passing year.FYI I am not a Kings or Coyotes fan.

J.J. is correct.  Dusting Brown is one of the biggest divers in the league.  Once you get that reputation with the refs, it doesn’t go away.  So, every time he goes down like he has been shot (which is a LOT) it will be called, whether is was an embellishment or not.  In this instance it was not, but it was hilarious watching him act like he couldn’t skate to the box…now that was embellishing!

His leg was numb from the hit. Interesting that you find something like that to be “hilarious”. Speaks volumes.

By the way, how is your team doing?

Pautan, the Stars did not make the playoffs and you hurt my feelings.  If I was the “C” of the Kings I would be rolling around on the floor in agony.  Yes, I do find it hilarious that Brown always acts hurt after he is hit but then is fine a minute later.  This isn’t a rare occurrence for him.  Do I think injuries are funny as you are suggesting, not at all.

Well, he was sitting in the penalty box for a couple minutes and it’s the playoffs, everyone plays hurt.

Brown MIGHT be a diver, but this was not a dive. These idiot officials are simply amazing sometimes.
