Shanahan’s inability to punish Weber is causing these kinda hits that going to stay around for the rest of playoffs.

Who’s gonna put the blindfold on and pin the tail on the donkey. From the neck back is a $2,500 fine.

What an arrogant organization.

It’s all about the injury and the fact that it wasn’t retaliatory, folks. Wings fans don’t have to like it, but the Weber fine was the result of the fact that Weber *reacted* instead of just acting for the hell of it, and because Zetterberg’s helmet broke instead of Zetterberg’s head.

This one is gonna coast Hagelin some games because it was unprovoked and it was an injury-inducing hit, and goodness knows I hope my favorite non-Wing is OK.

I don’t know if that’s right or wrong. All I know is that’s how justice works in the playoffs.

FlyersFan is 100% correct here.  In the last few years, how many fighting majors have there been in the playoffs?  I think those marks have been eclipsed now—what, all of three days into the playoffs?  Shanny is forcing the players to police this themselves.  Elbowing the other team’s star in the head is just a monetary penalty.

GM, I disagree.  If Dats doesn’t like the way Fisher is checking him that gives Pavel the right to elbow Fisher in the face?  Because its reactionary?

Just watched a few Stl vs Sj highlights.  Wow!  Brett Burns with a blatant elbow; probably worth 2,500 since the player receiving that headshot was ‘t concussed.

If I was a Canuck fan I would be paranoid about all of these flying elbows.  LA has One of the dirtiest players in mike Richards.  He specializes in elbows to the head…

You’re all here, so you’re obviously hockey fans. You know NHL suspensions and supplemental discipline NEVER makes any real consistent sense. You may as well place bets on a roulette wheel as trying to predict a reaction from Campbell’s office (as occupied by Shanny).

Blatant intent to injure. I was dumbstruck that he didn’t get thrown out of the game.

Targets the head with the elbow the whole way (as even Don Cherry observed). Precedent is Keith on Sedin, but I imagine he’ll get one game. Provided it’s not ruled ‘unintentional’ like the first time this season when Alfredsson was deliberately targeted and concussed by this dirty bunch and their sideshow coach.

Tortorella mocking Alfredsson as he was helped off the ice boils my blood.

Exactly right. The Rangers game was filthy dirty and barely a call.

I watched and thought, this is playoff hockey?

Thanks Gary. A$$.

Sorry, George, but that makes no sense. A dirty play is a dirty play is a dirty play. There is no rule that states something along the lines of “A penalty shall be less severe if the player engaging in the infraction is rightfully pissed off about something that happened mere seconds earlier”

It’s either a suspendable offense, or it isn’t. Shots to the head are not measured by what influenced the player to take a shot to the head in the first place. It’s either wrong, or it isn’t.

Hagelin should get a couple games for that, but at this point, who the hell knows what will happen?

How can you set an Precedent if it’s always getting change after another incident in different game? Fonzy will be out of a job in couple years after the players start tuning him out.

Guess I’m a naive west-coaster because I really thought of all the eastern series, this one would stay relatively clean.  Refs pocketed their checks after making the obligatory fighting calls in the first period and then just skated through the motions.  The amount of garbage going on uncalled was just ridiculous.
