It would be great if, one of these times, no one asks him any questions and they just make him sit there staring for as long as they can, just to waste as much of his time as possible.  It would be about as useful as these interviews are, and would help waste his time as much as it wastes the reporters’ time.

A question I would ask:

Coach, I understand that there is part of your job, like the media, that you don’t like. I understand this, but what type of example are you setting to your children? Hey kids, if there are any kids at school or at work that you don’t like or subjects you hate, it’s ok to treat people like crap, because hey, I don’t like that part of my work/school.

Seriously, it was amusing for a while, but not, it’s flat out RUDE

That would be like one the stare offs Conan O’Brien used to have with Max Weinberg.  I’d love to see it happen.

Why is this guy such an ass?  Why does the league allow him to get away with it?  When you sign on to be an NHL coach, this comes with it - and you get compensated VERY well for it.  Whether or not the organization realizes it, this is a reflection on the team, its management and players.  Obviously they are aware of this an okay with it.

I wouldn’t bother asking him anything, why waste your time on him when he sees you as a complete waste of time?  You don’t need anything from him to write about the Rangers.

Funny thing is, from what I have been told by people that have actually interacted with Tortorella, he is a genuinely good guy and treats all the people on staff and supporting staff like real people. Some coaches can’t be bothered, but he takes the time.

His dance with the media is just that, a dance that he likes to play.  He is generating as much buzz as many other more talkative coaches. Hunter didn’t say much of anything in his press conferences, he just didn’t do it while sucking on a lemon. Tortorella doesn’t say much, but his expression and emotional state after each games tells you just about everything you want to know. He is more compelling in 37 seconds that some press conferences that last an hour. Yes, he should be more gracious to the media because they are his gateway to the fans.

Yes, he is prickly, but that is what makes him fit in New York, it isn’t rude if you are producing results and up until now he has. As for the children, because everything is about the poor children that are so easily influenced by a hockey coach, he is answering in one word to protect the children from the expletive ladened tirade he reserves for behind closed doors.

You feel bad for the reporters? For them, this is content gold!

Since many already manufacture feuds and stories where they don’t exist, what could be better than a blank slate to project every possible aim and emotion that can be dreamed up in their vast imagination?

Why were these hack journalists asking so many “yes/no” questions?  That’s the most disappointing thing I took out of the video…

It they think these are bad, they’ve never watched an Andy Reid or Bill Belichick press conference.

It would be great if Fans kept their money in there pockets like he wants to keep everything “in the room”

The hack journalists’ questions are asking him to speculate on coaching. He’s paid to coach the team, not to polish writers’ egos.

and +19 to phillyd!
