laying on the livingroom floor, dying as a kid over the excitement. A big reason hockey placed a spell on me unlike any other sport

In my buddies basement when his father burst down the stairs and started screaming!!
It seems that former Detroit tv anchor/legend had spilled the beans during the news broadcast…....which took place an hour before the game was to be broadcast on tape delay.
Watched them beat Finland 2 days later for the Gold, from the lounge of the now long gone satellite lanes on Michigan avenue.
33 years…..???....

In my apartment in Germany, had hung up a uhf tv antenna in the attic so I could get American Forces Network AFN TV to watch the broadcast.

I was six….um…maybe coloring in a coloring book…or passed out on the couch after demolishing a plate of grandmas cookies. Again.

How time slips by…
So many heroes…
Craig in goal stands out. And Eruzione, with a big heart.
Herb Brooks, a coach I had never heard of.
I remember how patient and understanding the Russian players were, watching the young American kids celebrate.
The American team still had to beat the Finns for the gold, and I remember worrying about too much celebration too soon.
The next day, over Alaska, a Russian Mig pulled up next to an American fighter and saluted him with the hockey score on a chalk board.
