Good call on the ice. Hopefully it doesn’t take any more of these for the players to get the memo.

Nice job by the defenseman sacrificing Perron on that play.

Borderline leaning towards clean hit. Dumbo Joe gets 15 for it, and yet Carcillo’s hit tonight gets nothing? Brilliant…as always…

I’d have to see another angle before I pass judgment.  Initial point of contact is unclear, Perron’s feet were pointed in Thornton’s general direction so it’s not a blind side.  He definitely took part of the blow right in the center of the chest, maybe even the chin.  Trying as hard as I can to look at the hit from a medium ground, but it seems clean, if not grey area.

Good to see Couture step up there, hopefully he didn’t hurt himself.

And like someone else said, Perron definitely got screwed by that pass.

look at the a-hole crowd at the 1min. mark, after the fight ends they are all standing and cheering for their fighter,
noone looking at the motionless guy on the center ice,
wow, litlle distraction goes a long way there

so, I guess, people really care for the fights, most off all?

Players doesn’t seem to get it and i fully understand why: Thornton will get a 2 games suspension. Until the league do his job and really ” penalise ” player for their actions ( 10,15,20 games ), nothing will change.

I don’t think he targeted the head.

I’m already sick of hearing about this hit, and I haven’t actually heard about it yet.  I saw the game.  Perron was about to, and should have, received the pass.  Thornton just happens to be big.  Otherwise, this is barely noticed.  Enough already.

Agreed with Land Shark.

I can sort of see where others are coming from though.  Thornton is big and maybe could have realized that Perron didn’t realize he was there.

But still, these are professional hockey players.  Perron needed to be aware of where everyone is on the ice at all times, even if they just came out of the box.  If Thornton gets a longer suspension than Carcillo, that will be idiotic.

Just to update for folks who may not have heard, Thornton has a 2pm conference call with the NHL and Carcillo, no meeting scheduled wit the league.
