At the end of two, the Pens are up 3-1 and the Flyers only go was scored by Briere, but you may want to look at the reply.

Yeah…you might want to see Pittsburgh’s third goal. It should have been icing, so this was a make up for the first mistake.

Maybe a bad call but not the worst mistake they have or will make this year.  They’re human

Still doesnt make up for all the non calls against them in the 2009 cup finals and like the first guy said Dupis goal should have been icing.

It’s weird seeing one of these flukey bad/missed calls going against pittsburgh. That almost never happens.

Pretty brutal.

Also a little brutal that the Pens had one penalty.

Silly season for the refs.

They let this and so much go in the Pens/Flyers game and called every sneeze in the Wings/Preds game.

Wow. This fuching league…

I didn’t see the “icing” goal so I can’t comment, and with respect to my fellow Wings fans, I don’t see what 2009 has to do with this. This was a missed offside call that led to a goal, plain and simple. Whether the “icing” goal makes it quid pro quo or not is irrelevant. The real issue is that we’re one day into the playoffs and across three games we’ve already seen wildly different versions of officiating, none of which are particularly good.

It was a blown call. it happens from time to time. It did not cost the Pens the game. They failed to finish strong and it cost them. For all of you that think the Pens are whiners both Bylsma and Crosby were interviewed and asked about the offside non-call. Both said that it did not cost them the game. Bunch of whiners eh?

Hahahahaha.  “Flukey” when it happens to the Pens.  “CONSPIRACY” if it happens in favor of them.  You guys are always good for a laugh.

Always laughing AT you, though.  Definitely not with you.

Every time I flipped to the Wings/Preds game (usually in between periods) it seemed like there was either a PP or 4 on 4 situation.  No idea how that happens.  And God help those teams next game.  It’ll probably be a massacre and only 3 penalties will be called.

Also, a missed icing call that doesn’t lead to a goal (unless “lead to a goal” encompasses several minutes afterwards) and a missed offsides that immediately leads to a goal are not equal.  Briere doesn’t score (at least on that play) if the whistle is blown.

That one really hurts, now - even though it isn’t the reason the Pens lost.  Gotta keep their skates directly on the throats of the Flyers…and step down.  Don’t let up…because they certainly aren’t going to.

Also a little brutal that the Pens had one penalty.

Silly season for the refs.

It was a clean game, for the most part.  Even the penalty on Orpik was a really borderline call - it certainly wasn’t interference…would need to see it again to tell you for sure it wasn’t charging.  Interference and obstruction was running wild, though.  I just attribute that to “playoff hockey,” though…

Offsides, but it looks like the officials were looking at a “safe” lead and didn’t want to draw any unnecessary attention by calling back a goal. Just sloppy work by the linesman who thought the game was decided. Non-calls like this decide the game even though it seems harmless at the time.

Actually, it was about 5 seconds after the missed icing call. Coburn touches the puck on what everyone thought was icing the puck flips back then off the boards to Dupuis for the goal.

Even the penalty on Orpik was a really borderline call - it certainly wasn’t interference…

Sure it was. It was the classic interference. Briere shoots the puck on net, starts to skate behind the net to get to it on the other side and Orpik comes in and checks him while he still doesn’t have the puck. If no one’s noticed, the refs don’t want D-men to check opponents going for a 50-50 puck, they want them to either play the 50-50 puck or wait until the opponent has retrieved that puck. before making the hit. I just don’t understand why there weren’t checking from behind calls, when one looks at how the DET/NSH game was called, on the Penguins for checks on Grossmann in the first few minutes last night.

But I do agree with you, I thought it was a relatively clean game. I don’t think it was so much interference running rampant as it was I’m in my spot and you’re going to have to go around me to get to where you want to go which tends to happen more in the playoffs then the regular season.
