VEGAS (November 9, 2017) – Vegas Golden Knights General Manager George McPhee announced today, November 9, that the team and forward Vadim Shipachyov have reached a mutual agreement to place Shipachyov on the NHL voluntary retirement list. With this designation, Shipachyov will be able to return to play in the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia.
Shipachyov appeared in three NHL games for the Golden Knights and recorded one goal to go with two penalty minutes. He was signed by the Golden Knights as a free agent on May 4, 2017.
The 30-year-old forward finished third in the KHL scoring race last season with 76 points on 26 goals and 50 assists in 50 games. The 50 assists were the second most in the league. He also had 19 points on four goals and 15 assists in 17 games during the KHL playoffs, helping SKA Saint Petersburg win the league championship for the second time in his career (2017 and 2015).
