A few weeks ago, Verizon was kind enough to send me a HTC Droid DNA phone in order to test the NHL GameCenter app.
I've never really had a need for an app to follow the game because I am usually at home and have all the tools to access anything NHL releate in any way I wish.
But this morning, I went out to breakfast and noticed there was an update forthe NHL GameCenter app so I uploaded it and played with the app while at breakfast.
I was pleasantly surprised to fine a few fixes for some of the issues the app was experiencing, including video crashing problems.
So I reviewed last night's game between the Ducks and Stars and found the video to be in perfect sync with the audio and the video stream was as close to HD as you can get.
The app also supplies you with either a recap of games recently played or a preview of games which are about to be played.
Numerous types of stats are available too and to be honest, I can see anyone not stuck at home like me, finding this app very useful while you are commuting or away from a computer.
What really impresses me is the video quality, so sharp and easy to view, even for a guy with eye problems. If only the phone had an HDMI out, I would hook it up to my plasma and see how the video compares to my Center Ice package.
I think I may be able to do that since Verizon has offered to send me an Android tablet that will have an HDMI out.
I will keep you posted and I recommend you try out the NHL GameCenter app, especially since the recent upgrades of the app. You just may find a niche for it during a busy day or night.
