U-verse Customers About To Lose NHL Network

DALLAS, Sept. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/—AT&T issued the following statement to update its customers that NHL Network could be removed from the AT&T U-verse TV lineup tonight:
We have tried to reach a fair, long-term deal with NHL Network in order to continue delivering this channel to U-verse TV U450 and Sports Tier customers. Unfortunately, it appears that as of midnight EST, Oct. 1, NHL Network will no longer be available on U-verse TV because we will no longer have an acceptable agreement to carry the channel. We are always open to considering a fair and detailed proposal from NHL Network.
U-verse TV customers can continue to watch their home team and other teams play on NBC, Versus or on their area’s local regional sports network. These networks are delivering over 100 games this season, which is more televised live NHL hockey games than ever before.

I had Uverse once and they offer close to nothing if you root for an out of town team. The service is otherwise pretty nice, but if your a sports fan, you’d better look elsewhere.

I have tried them all, cancelled my cable TV, and using this for the 3rd yr.
Every game that is televised is available, and the picture quality is acceptable.
Picture quality seems to improve every year. HDMI out on the laptop strait to the big screen.

Sounds like you have a nice setup, HockeyTownTodd, but not quite what I’m looking for. I’m set for this season with the DISH Network subscription I get as an employee. I’m lucky because DISH is keeping the NHL Network, and this season I opted in for Center Ice because every game is a home game for me, plus I keep hearing great things about their Mosaic channel.

I moved this summer to North Carolina and now have Charter cable. Surprise, surprise—NHL Network isn’t even offered here. But it’s confusing because I know the network is offered in other areas via Charter.
And then I love that even if I pony up for GameCenter Live this year I’ll still be blacked out from games on the network.
