Two Rangers Had Successful Shoulder Surgery

The Rangers announced this afternoon that both Carl Hagelin, an upcoming restricted free agent, and captain Ryan Callahan, underwent successful surgeries to repair torn labrums in their left shoulders.

The team said the recovery period for each key player is four to five months. Even in the best-case scenario, then, neither would be available for training camp or the preseason. If it’s a five-month recovery, both could miss the start of the 2013-14 season.
