Turco Staying Positive

from Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune,

The 35-year-old has yielded seven goals thus far in a pair of one-goal defeats as the Hawks have earned one point to open defense of their Stanley Cup championship. It’s not exactly the start he envisioned after signing with the Hawks as a free agent during the summer to replace Antti Niemi as the No. 1 goaltender.

“You go home and lie in bed and think about it and you always replay stuff,” said Turco, who has 67 saves and a .896 save percentage. “The idea is just to get better. I’ve played long enough and been in this position to put it behind you pretty quickly because any time you let things eat at you, it’s going to hurt your focus. Especially in the position I occupy.”

Despite the losses and the 3.50 goals-against average Turco, who is expected to get the start Monday night against the Sabres in Buffalo, sees positives in his game.

Oh PLEASE Buffalo, don’t play like Buffalo. Channel the spirit of Tim Horton and light Turco up so brightly that Chicago will think the town is on fire again. I love to hear the sound of people jumping of bandwagons.

And I hope referencing the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 wasn’t in bad taste or “too soon”
