TSN Hockey Panel Predicts Team Canada Roster

As Team Canada's Olympic Orientation camp heads into the final day, the NHL on TSN revealed their projected final roster for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

The panel, comprised of Bob McKenzie, Pierre LeBrun, Darren Dreger, Ray Ferraro, and James Duthie made consensus choices on the 25 players who, based on their insight, they think Team Canada management is leaning towards to represent the country come February.

In net, Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo was chosen as the starter to be backed up by Montreal Canadiens' Carey Price and Phoenix Coyotes' Mike Smith.

The top defensive pairing was Duncan Keith and Drew Doughty followed by pairings of Marc Staal and Shea Weber, Jay Bouwmeester and Alex Pietrangelo, and Dan Boyle and PK Subban.

I don’t have an issue with this roster. Anyone who loses their mind of omissions to the team needs to relax - its a hard team to make. It’s also supposed to be a legitimate team, not hockey’s version of the Harlem Globetrotters.

Only thing I disagree with is Bergeron as an extra. Time and again he’s shown he’s way too valuable in high-leverage situations because of his all-around play. That said, Canada has an embarrassment of hockey talent, so even this is a pretty minor nit to pick.
