from Steve Hummer of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution,
Until they can sign Dale Jr. to drive a Zamboni, popularizing Canada’s game down here remains slow, hard work, y’all.
“I said from Day One that this project is going to take 10 years, just to expose the product to as many people as we possibly can,” said Thrashers general manager/coach Don Waddell, whose team is in Year Eight of the 10-year plan. The Thrashers are out in the Atlanta metro area aggressively, hosting some sort of developmental or introductory program weekly.
The love for the game is here just like in any of its traditional Northern outposts, but it’s the quantity of that devotion that is open to question.
