It's all very well for hockey critics to suggest that the sport needs to crack down on the use of substances that are banned by the International Olympic Commission. But with Dick Pound, the head of the World Anti-Doping Agency, making outlandish, unsupportable allegations about substance-abuse in the NHL, and the United States Congress determined to turn the matter into a political football, a less-glamorous problem has been created. What should a sick hockey player do about a serious cough or cold that is affecting his game?
