Kukla's Korner Hockey

Too Hot

from the Montreal Gazette,
You don't need a Terry Tomalty Montreal street scene, with kids in CH tuques chasing pucks through the twilit slush until they're called home for dinner. You can have a hockey game without romance, sentimentality or frostbite. What's needed, however, is an evening cool enough to wear a coat or a jacket - and something that says "hockey" louder than a Tilley hat - to the game. You want to see your breath as you approach the arena. You want to hear fresh snow crunching under your boots. You want to see scalpers blowing on their hands to keep warm. That's hockey. Or at least that was hockey until the NHL decided to expand to the Sun Belt. Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina. But hockey is sweeter where the rink needs a heater.
