Toivonen Feels No Shame

from the Providence Journal:
Boston Bruins goaltender Hannu Toivonen has a spirited sense of humor when it comes to his mask. It's become a September ritual to unveil the mask he will wear for the season, and for the last couple of years he's donned the basic Bruins logo with a bear painted on it to go along with the cartoon character Piglet from Winnie the Pooh, holding a Finnish flag. Well, Piglet and his native flag are still on the back. On each side Toivonen has his ears and blond hair painted on, but the front is what's interesting. It's a replica of the mask the character Denis Lemieux wore as a goalie in the movie Slap Shot. When asked about it, he started reciting lines from the movie, and with his Finnish accent sounded just like the character, who was played by Yvon Barrette in the 1977 cult classic. In fact, Toivonen and his agent, Bill Zito, came up with the idea.
