SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced Head Coach Todd Richards has been relieved of his coaching duties effective immediately.
“I would like to thank Todd for the hard work he provided to the Minnesota Wild organization the last two seasons and wish him the best in the future,” said Fletcher.
Update 2:42pm ET: From Michael Russo at the Star Tribune—
Richards’ reaction?
“Just disappointed. Just disappointed in myself, that’s all,” he said. “I needed to do a better job—simple as that.”
As veteran Andrew Brunette said Monday, it’s amazing how fast it unraveled.
“Eight weeks ago we’re talking about Todd as ‘Coach of the Year,’” Brunette said. “Things happened so fast.”

Minnesota has the personnel to win, just not the way Richards tried to win.

That roster is trapped somewhere between Lemaire and Richards, can’t believe they didn’t given him another year to see things evolve.

That is it Lex they were still having guys that fit the LeMaire system trying to play the Richards aggressive system & it didn’t work unsurprisingly

Don’t understand this dismissal any more than I understand Pete DeBoer’s. Minnesota doesn’t have the personnel to win. That isn’t Todd Richards’ fault.
