from Terry Jones of the Edmonton Sun,
Tentative Tambellini has to take the fall for the failure of the Edmonton Oilers to rise.
Steve Tambellini can’t keep firing the coach. It’s his turn to take the bullet.
Seven games remain for the Oilers as they mop up a seventh straight season out of the playoffs and one thing has become more than obvious.
It’s been tracking this way all lockout-shortened season but now they’re about to run out of season and the sobering reality is this hockey club isn’t going to end up significantly better this season than it was last year.
This was the year the Oilers were supposed to begin to climb the ladder from the basement after 30th, 30th and 29th place finishes into the top half of teams in the league on their way to the very top.
They were 23rd going into games Sunday. And dropping.
