You thought that we would be thrown off by the advertising on the boards as photo-shopped?  Big deal.  They’ve had advertising along the boards for years.

No, the graphics, “ISLES CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT” is the supposed photoshopped because no one would’ve believed the Isles could’ve made the playoffs at all this year.

And good for them.

Regardless of the Ottawa finish, the Isles still cannot miss the playoffs because the 9th and 10th seed cannot tie or surpass them.

This is good for hockey, IMO. The Isles have had a small handful of really talented and exciting players for a few years now, and it is good for that core to finally start firing on all cylinders. I certainly wouldn’t consider them a serious threat to even get out of the first round, but this is a great step. Now, if they could get a new owner and new building, hockey on the island could be revitalized big time.

They have a new building - it is called hte Barclay Center and it is located in Brooklyn. And Wang may have been a neophyte owner making some glaring rookie mistakes early on, but it was the politicians on Long Island that have done more to hold the team back than the owner them and some village idiot that comments on hockey on NBC.

The Islanders may have a backup goaltender for a GM, but they also have only 1 top five pick from his tenure in the lineup with 4 more yet to join the team in coming seasons. Patience may have paid off with Okposo and Bailey and the ability to dumpster dive and take on other team’s castoffs (Grabner, Moulson, Boyes, Hickey, Strait, PAP) and convincing people that didn’t want to go to Long Island to sign extensions (Nabokov, Visnosky) has worked out well. They now have a low payroll, low ECLs or RFA control to work with a new source of revenue coming in less than two seasons.  They also have a Hart candidate and a playoff team.

PS
I got the joke, you get used to being on the receiving end after 6 years.

Was it the politicians on Long Island or the idiots on NBC who forced him to make Garth Snow the GM and to OK the DiPietro contract?

Just, you know, out of curiosity…

DiPis contract was already a done deal when Garth came on board. He may be the GM of record, but anyone wiht half a brain knows that was one of the owner’s mistakes and not Snow’s. Just like it was the NBC idiot (Mike Milbury) who signed off on Yashin’s ten year deal and drafted DiPi in the first place.

But go ahead be clever, I hope your curiostiy is satisfied. You can mock Snow for being a back-up goaltender, but outside of St Louis Blues, there isn’t a team that has gotten more value/player in the NHL.

Ah, I see.  Som as I said, Wang OK’d the DiPietro contract.  I didn’t blame Snow for the DiPietro contract, I specifically blamed Wang.  Thanks for using your reading comprehension.

and nice way of avoiding the “backup Goaltender GM” mistake comment. Or do you only read half of what you write?

If you actually read my first statement, you’d see where I already mentioned the owner making some rookie mistakes. But you only acknowledge half of your own comments so why would I think you would have read all of mine?
