from the Sun-Sentinel,
Martin sent a letter to all season-ticket holders Wednesday night detailing his future plans for the organization and outlining his reasoning behind trading Roberts, Bertuzzi and Joel Kwiatkowski.
“I think that is part of a general manager’s responsibility,” Martin said. “As a general manager, you have a plan for your organization and I think your fans have a right to know what the plan is.”
As stated in the letter, Martin’s plan is a four-tier process that began with Tuesday’s trading deadline and will continue to evolve through the NHL Draft in June, free-agent signings in July and subsequent roster moves during next season’s training camp. Martin is confident that the salary-cap flexibility created by the trades will help the Panthers woo star free agents.
