There are fewer than 1,000 registered hockey players and only seven indoor rinks in Slovenia, which at one time was part of Yugoslavia.
But Anze Kopitar was able to over-come the lack of a competitive hockey environment while growing up.
He is not only the first player from his tiny country to make it to the NHL, but he’s also been very successful.
