from the Star-Ledger,
He is probably the NHL’s next commissioner. He played a major role in the 2004-05 lockout, and as deputy commissioner, remains the league’s point man on a wide range of issues—not the least of which is boosting the popularity and TV ratings of the sport.
Which is another way of saying Bill Daly, a Jersey kid who now lives in suburban Essex County, has one of the most difficult jobs in professional sports. He discussed those challenges in an interview last week with The Star-Ledger.
How healthy is the NHL?
Healthy and getting healthier. Obviously we came from a position where too many of our franchises were not healthy and the collective bargaining agreement hasn’t totally corrected that. Cer tainly it’s provided a foundation on which our clubs can become healthy. That’s the stage we’re in now.
