From Blake Sebring via News-Sentinel,
Franke suggests NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman meet with minor-league commissioners to restructure the game in terms of geography and rules. Minor-league hockey needs a game plan, Franke said.
“Every league is suffering right now, and how many teams need to go dark before somebody wakes up?” he said. “He needs to sit down with all of us and say, ‘Fellas, we’ve got problems here, and we need to begin a dialogue of how we can make this better. When there are more people coming to the buildings in your cities, it’s best for the NHL, too.’
“Maybe then … the NHL will get a contract with a TV network that more than 500 people can access.”
