The Latest On Bryzgalov

via Nick Kyreos tweets,

Hearing #Flyers and Bryzgalov have the basis of agreement in place for new long term deal. May not be announced till af’tr July 1

#NHL tagging rules mean #Flyers would have to move money off cap first before announcing July 1. Heard Bryzgalov was looking for 7 yr/ 50M

plus Elliotte Friedman tweets in,

@RealKyper think you are right, heard AAV will be around $7 million for Bryzgalov

I’m a Pens fan so I hope nothing but bad things for the Flyers.  But it they plan on paying Bryz 7 mil/per year they are crazy.  Has he ever got apast the second round?  Why wouldn’t you try to cut a deal for Luongo if your going to go crazy $$$$ for crazy years.  They got a ton of forward talent, seems I would use that to fix the goaltending position.

However Flyers do go ahead and pay Bryz 7 mil year for 7 years.  That’s fine with me.

As a Pens fan, I am praying these early reports are true.

$7M per year for a flaky goalie with a penchant for soft goals? $7M for a goalie who had inflated numbers because of the system the Coyotes played?

Yes, please!!!

LOL. Seven million for a goalie better get you Patrick Roy in his prime-like numbers. Who do they think they are competing against in the market?

$7MM is too much for any goalie. Bryzgalov is one of the best in the game (currently) but has definitely shown a knack for getting lit up in the playoffs. He’ll probably fare much better in Philly, on a good team, than he did in Phoenix, on a very (well coached) average team.

But $7MM? Ooph.

Also Bryz showed signs of faultering last season. Not sure if he may have quit on Phoenix but he didn’t look good against the wings in the playoffs.

That’s like saying the Hindenburg didn’t look so good on that one flight.

Obviously, Holmgren hasn’t seen Bryz’s Western Conference resume lately.
