Kukla's Korner Hockey

from Stan Fischler at the Daily Freeman,
This does not come under the heading of “Breaking News” because I’ve mentioned it in this space at least twice since the dawn of the New Year.
But if you hadn’t heard it then, I’ll tell you right now that the Rangers will win the Stanley Cup. (And Stanley should know, shouldn’t he?)
Now that we’ve established that fact of life, it would be a good idea to compare John Tortorella’s troops with the last championship team from Rangerville. That would be the 1994 version which featured the legendary Mark Messier as captain and Mike Keenan as coach.
Balancing the two teams on a comparative scale, we find that Mess the Messiah has been replaced by one of the hardest-working athletes this side of Derek Jeter named Ryan Callahan, who most appropriately is the Blueshirts’ captain and leader by example. By the way, he’s from not-so-far-away Rochester.
