In the first installment of The Bolts Beat for 2011, Jon, Mike and Mark give their thoughts on Tampa Bay’s addition of goaltender Dwayne Roloson and why the deal was made now. Later, things get a little spicy when the conversation turns to what it likely means for Dan Ellis and/or Mike Smith.
Also, the guys give their thoughts on the stellar NHL debut of yet another goalie, Cedrick Desjardins, and discuss how he might fit into the Lightning’s future plans.
And, finally - no, really, for the last time - the gang reluctantly entertains the controversy that should never have been over Steven Stamkos’ penalty shot goal against Montreal.

All that, plus more (including a special announcement!) after the jump…

You’re right, there never should have been any controversy over Stamkos’s goal, just like there never should have been any controversy over Omark’s goal.
The only reason for any controversy whatsoever is that a number of Lightning players, including Stamkos, decided to be whiny little crybaby douches and focus on a a harmless play by a rookie in his first NHL game instead of focusing on the fact that they couldn’t beat one of the worst teams in the league in regulation time. Or in overtime. Or in the shootout.
Next time instead of focusing on crying, they should try WINNING THE GAME..
Those players crying about a spin-o-rama is more disrespectful to the game than the spin-o-rama ever could be.
