The Women In Hockey In the Spotlight Tonight

Filed in: NHL Media, Hockey Broadcasting, | KK Hockey | Permalink

Plenty of announcers who are men leave a lot to be desired/can be grating to the ears. So it’s good to have the possibility of more talent getting a chance.

Having said that,’not all women who get a chance will be great - some will be grating or homers or not so insightful, too.

I’m looking forward to hopefully, let’s say: more quality announcers overall and less focus on omg it’s a woman, she’s guaranteed to be an improvement.
But I understand it’s going to take a while to get there.
I hope/think maybe when announcers who are women can be criticized the same way announcers who are men are panned when are annoying or biased, etc. it will be a sign of progress(?)

As the USA/Canada rivalry has shown, the women’s hockey has grown a lot and enjoyable to watch.

Many are now getting scholarships to Colleges in the USA

I agree! Toronto and Boston are difficult, for me anyway, to watch the games

In Canada I see Cassie Pascal Campbell a lot, she has more hockey knowledge than some males and interesting to listen to.
