Kukla's Korner Hockey

The TV Critic

from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,

- My biggest complaint after watching the All Or Nothing five-part documentary on last season’s Maple Leafs team, is this: I didn’t know anything more about Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander, and Morgan Rielly after five episodes than I did before the show. I do know more about Zach Bogosian, Jimmy Vesey, and Nick Foligno, though. But you don’t watch movies to see the bit-part actors. You watch for the Oscar winners.

more if you want Leafs talk...

Maybe theres no Oscar winners on the Leafs just Oscar whining fans and media writers.

It seems at least from outside GTA that all the guys
Simmons mentions are actually overhyped and there’s lots of focus
on personality and personal style. I don’t know how granularly Simmons wants to know them. This is after all the guy who did deep reporting on where Phil Kessel bought his hotdogs and what he liked on them.

One guy I didn’t mind hearing about was Zach Hyman because he actually seems like a fairly smart guy who has interests and accomplishments outside hockey, other than wearing loud suits.

That team needs to win some playoff rounds.
That’s all it really does come down to.
