The Toronto Maple Leafs Announce Management Changes

from the Toronto Maple Leafs,

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today the hiring of Kyle Dubas, who served the past three seasons as General Manager of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, as Assistant General Manager to David Nonis.

As part of a front office restructuring, the club also announced the departures of Vice President of Hockey Operations Dave Poulin and Vice President and Assistant General Manager Claude Loiselle.

“Kyle is a young executive that has made a strong name for himself in hockey with a progressive style, work ethic and maturation beyond his years,” said Toronto Maple Leafs President Brendan Shanahan. “He has a fresh approach that we feel will benefit our club for years to come.”

“At the same time, I would like to thank Dave Poulin and Claude Loiselle for their tireless dedication during their time with the Toronto Maple Leafs. They are both very accomplished hockey executives who have helped put this team in a position to take the next step.”

Mirtle just tweeted that Poulin and Loiselle had no idea their termination was coming, and that Poulin was just on the radio *earlier this morning* still in his capacity w/ the Maple Leafs.

Not a good way to treat employees.  Very, very poor job, Shanahan.

Hahahahahah. Wow. That’s ridiculously shady.

Following my home team from affar, I’ve heard nothing but good things about Kyla Dubas.  Should be a good addition to the Leafs and undoubtedly a big loss for the Greyhounds.

Agreed, Garth.  Lot of good things happened with the Hounds while Dubas was in charge.  Sad to see him leave the Soo, but good for him for making it to the big league (even if it is with the Leafs).

Leafs management is a three-headed monster at the moment. This looks like a decent hire… but Loiselle has been touted as a potential GM for the last year or so, so it’s weird to see him dropped cold turkey. Anyway, they signed David Booth today, so nothing’s really changed : )
