The Tampa Bay Lightning Are The 2019-20 Stanley Cup Champions

The Lightning beat the Dallas Stars 2-0 tonight to win the series and hoist the Cup.

Kudos to the Dallas Stars for getting this far when not many experts picked them.  They just ran out of gas and we can all understand that.

High marks to the NHL and all involved for pulling this off without any major issues.  Many had their doubts and the NHL deserves credit for doing as well as could be expected and then some.

Here is the game winning goal.

Bettman presenting the Stanley Cup without getting booed ... amazing.

Hintz, Faksa, and Comeau out for Dallas?

That’s tough.

For a team not as loaded with high end skill as
Tampa, that’s too much, even factoring in the absence of
Stamkos on the other side.

Congrats to TBL.  Well deserved.

EDMONTON (Sept. 26, 2020) – Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman was named the winner of the 2020 Conn Smythe Trophy, awarded to “the most valuable player to his team in the playoffs.” Hedman was selected the winner in a vote by a panel of the Professional Hockey Writers Association. Hedman finished fifth in league scoring during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs (10-12—22) and finished second amongst all defensemen. Hedman is the third defenseman in NHL history to score 10 or more goals in a postseason (Paul Coffey and Brian Leetch are the others).

Final between Texas and Miami, how boring.

Since when does the location of the teams dictate the excitement level of a hockey series.

Personally I found it a very entertaining series.

I was booing from home. Does that count?

Two excellent teams and a really good series.

I tried to focus on what was there - not what wasn’t
- and enjoyed the hockey.

It was appreciated given
how tough this year has been.
Overall the league and players association did a good job.
And they also saw how dangerous a lockout would be given an interruption
like this and preemptively avoided that.

Congrats to Tampa.
And I hope Dallas comes back and is a factor this coming season as well.
