from Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer,
Right winger Wayne Simmonds walked into the Flyers locker room after their latest loss Tuesday and you could almost see the smoke coming out of his ears.
Simmonds was incensed at how the Flyers had turned pucks over, at how they couldn't generate any offensive continuity, at how they had allowed the Edmonton Oilers - a team with a 4-8 record and without rookie sensation Connor McDavid for the final 22 minutes or so - to control the third period and register a 4-2 victory.
"We go up 2-1 and Neuvy's standing on his head and is giving is a chance to win," said Simmonds, referring to goalie Michal Neuvirth and the lead the Flyers took into the final period. "And then we just don't show up in the third and play our best hockey when we should have."
The Flyers have lost five straight, and they have looked slow and out of sync during most of that stretch. They are second to pucks and are getting outworked. Their roster looks old and like it needs some infusion of youngsters.
