from Ken Warren at the Ottawa Sun,
The snowball continues to grow, rolling on and on downhill.
After yet another demoralizing defeat, this time 2-1 to Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre Wednesday to kick off a seven-game road trip, the Ottawa Senators losing streak has hit the not so lucky seven mark.
In addition to extending the Senators ghastly slump, the Canadiens have now pulled three points ahead of Ottawa in the Atlantic Division standings.
Suddenly, the once-slumping Canadiens are on a three-game winning streak.
The Senators, meanwhile, left Montreal immediately for New York and Friday’s game against the Islanders in Brooklyn. In all too familiar fashion, they were searching for answers as they left the arena.
“We’ve got some guys working hard, doing the right things,” said left winger Zack Smith. “It’s just a matter of a little more confidence and a bounce here and there and we’ll get out of this. We’ve lost seven in a row. That’s disheartening, to say the least, but we’re definitely not out of it. We have a team that can turn things around and get us back in the playoffs.”
