NEW YORK / TORONTO (October 6, 2014) – As anticipation builds for the 2014-15 NHL® season, every aspect of the game will be at the fingertips of hockey fans around the world, courtesy of the newly redesigned, free NHL app available on mobile devices, and the NHL’s live cross-platform streaming games service, NHL GameCenter LIVE™. Hockey fans can expect more rich video content, seamless navigation, enhanced social media integrations and improved notifications among the many features that will create a more personalized experience.

The redesigned NHL app also includes a convenient integration for NHL GameCenter LIVE subscribers, which for the first time ever, has multiple camera angles for an enhanced viewing experience.

“When it comes to digital content, we are committed to delivering innovation to our fans based on four key directives – more, better, faster and easier,” said NHL Chief Operating Officer John Collins. “The redesign of the NHL app is a direct result of the increasing volume in which fans consume our game on mobile devices. NHL GameCenter LIVE continues to set the standard for live streaming games services. The new NHL app and NHL GameCenter LIVE offer the user experiences hockey fans enjoy most."

The NHL app is available today for download free of charge for iPhones and iPads via the App Store, and for Android smartphones and tablets via Google Play. NHL GameCenter LIVE subscriptions are currently available for purchase at http://www.nhl.com/gcl.

NHL App
Formerly available as the NHL GameCenter app, the new NHL app boasts a robust interface and cleaner design that gives users one tap access to video content, scores, top news stories, live game audio, and social media updates.

Features that were once available only to paid subscribers of the NHL GameCenter™Premium app are now free for users registered with NHL.com or logged in with their Facebook account, including live game audio streams and select in-game video highlights, making this the first official professional sports league app to make these features available for free regardless of wireless provider.

Fans can customize settings to follow their favorite teams for personalized news, video and team alerts. Swiping the screen to the left or right in the app will bring fans to content from each of their favorite team’s news feed.

For live streaming of out-of-market games, an NHL GameCenter LIVE™ subscription is available as an in-app purchase. In Canada, the NHL app is powered by Rogers with Rogers NHL GameCentre LIVE™ available for live game streams.

Once inside the app, the menu bar will provide fans with quick and easy access to news, scores, video content, standings and deep-links to rosters, statistics, schedules, shop.NHL.com, the NHL Hat Trick Challenge app presented by Enterprise, and each of the 30 NHL team apps.

· Improved Menus - “The Latest” tab provides a roundup of breaking news, feature stories, video highlights, original content, social media commentary, and everything fans need to know around the League. The “More” menu will give fans access to all of the NHL's Fantasy games as well as all of the team apps that are available on the iOS/Android platforms. With one tap to open or install, navigating around the NHL ecosystem has never been easier.

· New Scoreboard - Shortly before puck drop on game days, a newly revamped scoreboard will take center stage in the app to provide in-game scores and highlights, pre-game and post-game analysis, and easy access to create alerts and push notifications for game start and end times, every score update and more.

· Sharing & Social Media - Sharing news and feature stories, video clips and social media updates within the NHL app is easy, with fans given the option to connect their NHL app to their social media profiles. Deep-links enable Twitter and Instagram apps to launch automatically when fans engage with that content.

· Live Game Audio & Video Highlights - The free NHL app offers registered users and users who log in through Facebook live home and away audio and select in-game video highlights for each and every game (subject to blackouts). Live streams of entire games are one tap away for NHL GameCenter LIVE subscribers.

· NHL Event Content - The NHL app will carry live streams of press conferences and comprehensive coverage from NHL events including: Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic®, NHL All-Star Weekend, Coors Light NHL Stadium Series™, Stanley Cup® Playoffs, NHL Awards™ and NHL Draft™.
