Boy, did the Ottawa Senators leave a valuable point on the table in the team's 3-2 shootout loss to the lowly Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night.
Ottawa heads into the final week of action trailing three teams -- the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins -- by just two points, and all three have three games remaining on the schedule. And although the Bruins were the primary target for these surprising Sens, the Penguins may be the team to chase down considering Ottawa and Pittsburgh square off Tuesday night in a game that is rife with playoff implications.
That's a make-or-break match for the Senators, and they'll have to come better prepared than they were on Sunday against a Leafs team whose season is long over.
