from Andrew Gross of Ranger Rants,
Neither the Rangers nor the Kings practiced on Thursday. But Vigneault, along with Derek Stepan, Ryan McDonagh and Carl Hagelin met the media at the team’s hotel in Santa Monica, Calif.
“When we played Game 6 against Montreal, each and every player brought his A game,” Vigneault said. “It’s not an easy thing to do. But against this opponent, I do believe our expectations are to win, we’ve got to find a way to do it.”
Vigneault singled out goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who made 20 saves in the third period and 40 overall, as an example of a Ranger who did bring that so-called “A game.”
“They play a fast game,” Vigneault said of the Kings. “They can be physical when the opportunity is there. They’re a good team. But, saying that, I believe in looking back at it, for 40 minutes we went head-to-head with them. When they had a push, we had one guy that had a big push. Our goaltender permitted us to stay in that game. We were one shot away. So, I think our group can be better.”
