from Arthur Staple of Newsday,
Monday at 3 p.m. will come and go quietly for the Islanders, who have been steadfast in their desire to move to the postseason with the same roster they began this very successful regular season.
Team sources told Newsday, as they have repeatedly over the past six weeks, that nothing has altered the plan, not even the long-term injury to Kyle Okposo and shorter-term injuries to Casey Cizikas and Mikhail Grabovski.
Here are the main reasons why the Islanders won't be active before Monday's trade deadline:
- Lack of movable assets. Garth Snow basically set the course for this trade deadline with his moves in October 2013 and October 2014. In acquiring Thomas Vanek from the Sabres early last season, Snow gave up a conditional first-round pick that ended up being this coming June's selection, plus this coming draft's second-round pick.
