from Adam Vingan of The Tennessean,
Following the Predators' 3-0 loss to the Rangers on Monday, another game in which they arguably dominated in every offensive aspect but the most important, coach Peter Laviolette neatly summed up his team's ongoing woes.
"The guys are trying to score," he said. "It's not dropping right now."
It's been 213 minutes, 47 seconds since Nashville last scored, the longest goalless drought in franchise history by almost 40 minutes. Shut out in three consecutive games for the first time ever, the Predators will attempt to avoid becoming the first team since the 1967-68 Oakland Seals to be held without a goal in four consecutive contests Wednesday against the Sabres.
"Goal-scoring is the single one area that's probably the hardest thing to accomplish in the National Hockey League," Predators general manager David Poile said Tuesday. "We're suffering mightily the last three games. In my estimation, I really thought we deserved a better fate in Columbus (on Friday) and New York (on Monday). Sometimes this happens."
