The Latest On All The Trade Talk

from Lyle Richardson of The Hockey News,

As this week begins, the hockey world still awaits a Luongo trade. The Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers, Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers are the rumored suitors.

The Ottawa Citizen's Wayne Scanlan reported Ottawa Senators defenseman Sergei Gonchar laughed off a recent rumor that suggested he’d be dealt back to the Pittsburgh Penguins later this season.

The report, which appeared in the Ottawa Sun last month, claimed Penguins GM Ray Shero regretted losing Gonchar to free agency in 2010 and would try to bring him back via trade this season, or during the summer when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Gonchar told the Citizen he joked about the rumor while practising with his Kontinental League team....

The Los Angeles Kings were relieved to learn starting goalie and 2012 Conn Smythe Trophy winner Jonathan Quick made a full recovery from off-season back surgery and is ready to go for the upcoming season.

The status of Kings backup goalie Jonathan Bernier was the subject of considerable interest last summer when it was revealed he'd requested a trade prior to last season's deadline, but it was denied by management.
