via Elliotte Friedman tweets,

Looks like no final decision on OT. More discussion to come on starting 3-on-3 or using AHL model. But it sounds like GMs do want change.

Tablet or monitor to be added for refs for a coaches' challenge-style event with goaltender interference. Lose a timeout if wrong...

Also, there will discussion about NFL-style setup where in last minute, everything gets reviewed.

Also, refs will have final say on the call.

Remember, any recommendations must go through Competition Committee and BOG.

More on challenge for goaltender interference: can only be used on a goal, can't be used to call a penalty (only goal/no-goal)...

And if a coach had no time-outs, can't call for a challenge.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reported Tuesday that recommendations will be put forth to introduce a coach's challenge as well as 3-on-3 overtime.

The coach's challenge has been proposed as a means to cut down goaltender interference, while the overtime changes are aimed at minimizing the shootout as a means to decide regular season games.

Dreger added that the coach's challenge will likely include a video monitor at ice level for officials to view while discussing the ruling with the hockey operations department. The final call will still be the referee's.

Fellow Insider Bob McKenzie added that the coach's challenge will require approval from Players' Association's Competition Committee and the NHL Board of Governors. If passed it would take effect next season.

As for the specific set-up of 3-on-3 overtime, McKenzie added that it will require further study to settle on a format for the NHL.

The NHL likes the model currently in use in the American Hockey League, which sees three minutes of 4-on-4, followed by four minutes of 3-on-3. However, McKenzie adds, five minutes of 3-on-3 alone is also a possibility.

The implementation of some variation of 3-on-3 OT is likely for 2015-16, according to McKenzie, unless the rule is vetoed by the NHLPA.
