The LA Kings Have Bought Out Dion Phaneuf

LOS ANGELES – The LA Kings have bought out the contract of defenseman Dion Phaneuf, Kings Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake announced today.

Phaneuf, acquired by the Kings during the 2017-18 season, appeared in 93 games with the Kings over the past two seasons, posting 16 points (4-12=16) and 68 penalty minutes. He appeared in his 1,000th NHL game this past season.

Originally selected by the Calgary Flames in the first-round (9th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Phaneuf has appeared in 1,048 career NHL games over his 14-year NHL career with the Kings, Flames, Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs, posting 494 points (137-357=494) and 1,345 penalty minutes.
