The Edmonton Oilers Need A Goalie

This in from the Edmonton Oilers, news that back-up goalie Mike Smith needs to go on Long Term Injured Reserve, meaning he will be out at least 10 games.
“The Oilers have placed goaltender Mike Smith on Long Term Injured Reserve & have reassigned Olivier Rodrigue (currently in the Austrian National League) to the club’s taxi squad, pending quarantine protocols.”...
Oilers GM Ken Holland is now on the hottest of seats. Other NHL GMs know he has in great need of a back-up goalie. What’s he going to do? Over pay? Patiently wait for some goalie to pop up on the waiver wire? In the next few weeks, Holland will be tested to come up with the right goalie at the right price. Good luck to him. It’s a tall order to fill.

Kenny was/is?? a goalie…I’m guessing he could negotiate a reasonable $$$ deal with himself, but will screw up by giving himself a No-Trade clause…..

Howard definitely makes sense, frankly if the wings were in this position, I would not mind Holland bringing in Jimmy for a month at all.

If Kenny doesn’t seriously consider Jimmy, that’d be
a pretty damning statement re: the league-wide consensus on
where his game has gone. Jimmy always struck me as a good dude and a
hard worker and certainly a battler in net. I hope he gets a chance.
Maybe with Ty Conklin the third time’s the charm.
Meanwhile, will Anton Forsberg play an NHL game this season or
even stick on an NHL roster for more than a couple weeks?
I have this image in my head of the season wrapping up with him
still stuck in an airport or sitting in limbo waiting to see if he’s claimed
for good by another team across the border.
