from Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal,
The Edmonton Oilers beat back the Bruins on Boston’s own turf for the first time in 19 years, back to that Nov. 7, 1996, night when winger Mariusz Czerkawski had a hat trick and Taylor Hall was four years old. But the Oilers stole their sixth straight win with their 3-2 overtime victory Monday night.
Goalie Cam Talbot made 36 saves over the last 40 minutes of regulation to give the Oilers their first six-game win streak in three years. Coach Todd McLellan seemed to feel there was plenty of room for improvement in many areas of play outside the goalie crease, even after the win.
“Never in doubt?” asked a reporter to kick off the coach’s post-game presser.
“Yeah,” said McLellan, starting to laugh.
“We’re a smart group of players but we know we stole one here.
“The wins are what it’s about but I’m still about how we perform and get things done,” he said. “This doesn’t feel like a real good win for us.”
